Philosophy Department
All of our classes and courses of study are taught by instructors who have extensive experience and knowledge of their subjects. Our service projects and retreats are led by experienced facilitators who know and understand the importance of group work, how to encourage creativity, and how to assist participants in the formulation, organization, and implementation of successful service projects. Our goal is a positive outcome for the participants, and equally important, the world in general.

1. Classes Offered by Joyce Muraoka:
Celebrating Festivals, Celebrating Life
Since ancient times, humanity has utilized festivals and holy-days to weave the rhythms of the solar and lunar cycles with earth and human cycles. When we properly utilize the creative energies available at specific times of the year, we can fuel and strengthen each stage of life and growth.
In this class, we will uncover the meaning behind festivals, the energies unfolding through the cycle of the year, and become aware of how to create responsibly within these cycles. Join us in this celebration of Life!

Sacred Symbols and Design of Our Nation's Capital
The early designers and builders of this nation carefully laid a foundation that would withstand time and change as America grew. The written documents, as blueprints, are well known. What may be more visible to the common citizen, yet not understood are the symbols and design of our sacred heritage. These serve as a lighthouse when we are tossed about on the sea of fear, despair, doubt, distrust, and anger. It is important that we the people see with new eyes the ideals we as a nation have chosen to serve.
In this class, we will view and discuss the design of our nation's capital, such as the cross on the Mall, the Great Seal which appears on the dollar bill, the original design of the flag, and other fascinating symbols throughout our nation. Come celebrate our nation's heritage and purpose and become inspired to be active citizens, not passive bystanders, in steering the course ahead.

Nature of the Soul - The Art and Science of Meditation
In all times and places, each culture had its Mystery Schools and Traditions. These esoteric paths of training reached beyond morality and philosophy, to that Spiritual Alchemy which transformed the spiritual seeker into a conscious co-creator, empowered to take up the work of spiritual evolution upon this planet.
The internal disciplines of Visualization, Concentration, and Meditation, were designed to produce those evolutionary changes and growth within the brain that allowed the indwelling Consciousness greater perception and creativity within the arena of matter.
The title of Adept or Master meant the mastery of mental, emotional and physical matter. This was not abandonment, but the joyful re-creation of our world into harmony with the Divine Plan.
This class, "The Nature of the Soul", provides in-depth training in this Art and Science. Step by step, the student will be instructed in those techniques that will unfold the Soul within the personality, and which will allow that Soul to take up its Service within our World.
Although this training lasts about two years, the student is encouraged to attend only as long as he or she is learning and growing. The techniques taught are a synthesis of Eastern and Western Mystery Tradition, but are especially designed for the Western Student.

Transformational Consciousness & The Etheric Web
Humanity has for centuries searched for a higher meaning to life. Tenaciously and steadily we have reached inward and upward to attune with our Higher Selves; all the while, the Soul has been steadily moving toward expression within our lives and beings. At a certain point during this evolutionary process, we become conscious of the Divine Plan of the Soul, and we begin to consciously evoke self-initiated growth.
Participants are presented with information, techniques, and practical exercises that are designed to (1) acquaint them with the personal benefits of building an alignment with higher levels of Mind, and (2) assist them in their journey toward consciousness as Soul.
