Transformation and Collective Consciousness

By Maryann Miller

Philosophers have dialogued on consciousness since ancient times, from Hermes Trismegistus, Socrates, and Plato to Blavatsky, Bailey, Gandhi, and Watts, just to name a few. Most of these philosophers’ works were designed to teach us that who we truly are is consciousness – the consciousness that enters the body and then exits the body at transition (death) in order to evolve to higher and higher states.

What is Consciousness?

Simply put, consciousness is a radiatory effect of life and all life radiates consciousness. An atom, rock, dolphin, human or cosmic master, all are manifestations of consciousness; it is just a matter of the degree of consciousness that manifests.

What is Transformational Consciousness?

Transformation is a metamorphosis from one state or condition into another. It is the result of a process that produces great change, resulting in something new and nobler than before. Through the metamorphic process, major changes in the frequencies of our very being occur. These shifts produce a progression of our consciousness to higher and higher frequencies along the continuum of consciousness..

The process of transformation begins with self. Modern physics is finding that both the material world and consciousness are parts of a single unbroken totality of energy. At quantum levels, there exist frequencies of energy far beyond our normal everyday reality. Physicists call this the quantum potential. At this quantum level, the totality of existence is enfolded within each fragment of space and time. Thus everything in the universe affects everything else because all are part of the same dynamic web of energy, a web characterized by profound order and purposefulness.

One ingredient in the process of transformation is recognizing our interconnectedness with all life. Once we understand this truth at all levels of our being, we realize that as we nurture the other kingdoms in nature, i.e., the mineral, plant, and animal kingdoms, so too do we nurture our very selves. When we perceive all things as merely aspects of the whole, an inner shift in consciousness occurs, producing:

    • The ability to be sensitive to, or in tune with, subtle frequencies of energy or consciousness.

    • The ability to participate in a dialogue of shared meaning that leads to aligned actions. In this type of dialogue, the goal is to create a special environment in which a different kind of relationship among the parts can come into play – one that reveals both higher energy and intelligence.

    • Development of trust and intimacy.

    • The willingness to set purely self interests aside in order to work toward cooperation and the greater good.

Once we begin to live our interconnectedness, what is the next part of the process? How do we collectively midwife humanity’s present consciousness into higher frequencies of Collective Consciousness?

What is Collective Consciousness and why is it important?

Collective Consciousness is a frequency, or state of consciousness that is innate, although often dormant, within each of us. It can be described as a potent, focused, connected web of energy. When we align our consciousness with this potent web of energy, a shift in our consciousness occurs that has the potential of creating new paradigms, new and creative ways of thinking, acting, feeling, and doing things, thus producing answers to our questions, knowledge, creativity or wisdom.

This collective Web of Consciousness is a kind of living organism that is much more than the sum of all its parts. It is a station of Light through which the consciousness of many individuals moves to unfold a higher plan for themselves, humanity and the planet. As more and more individuals, and groups, consciously connect with the Collective Consciousness, the resulting effect will be a global transformation.

The life stages of the butterfly explain the power of collective consciousness in a most profound way. For those of you who may not be aware of this particular symbology, I include it here. Norie Huddle wrote about this symbology in her book,: Butterfly, which was published in 1990.:

At a particular point in the caterpillar’s development, a new type of cell begins to form; these cells are called imaginal cells.. Imaginal cells have a different vibratory frequency than the present cells, and because they multiply at a very rapid rate they are soon looked upon by the caterpillar’s immune system as enemies so the caterpillar’s immune system begins to destroy these newly developing imaginal cells. The imaginal cells, however, just continue to multiply at such a rapid rate that, even though many of them are destroyed, a great many survive. The thing they have in common with one another is their vibratory frequency and because they are of the same frequency, they resonate with one another and so they begin to cluster together in groups.. Because they are the same frequency, they can pass critical information back and forth to one another and that eventually helps prepare them for their next step.

As time passes another amazing thing begins to happen; the clusters of imaginal cells begin to form larger strings of clusters. These strings of clusters continue to pass information back and forth from one cluster and string to the other, and then one day a most amazing thing happens; a transformation occurs. Something new, different, and incomparable emerges that is much more than the sum of all of the little individual imaginal cells or even their clusters – a magnificent, marvelously beautiful butterfly is born and the caterpillar’s world is changed forever!

The exquisite butterfly continues to carry within it, each individual imaginal cell and each cell, encouraged by the other cells, carries out the responsibilities it is drawn to conduct. Each imaginal cell works within the imaginal community in a willing, joyful, creative way, and in so doing, the new life form of the beautiful butterfly is supported, nourished, and sustained.

At a personal level, the experience of Collective Consciousness brings:

  • a sense of wholeness – a sense of connection, balance and integration – an experience of unity and deep trust,

  • a recognition that each of us is an important part of a greater whole,

  • a reorientation of self-interest and a realization of deep personal fulfillment that comes out of service to others,

  • compassionate and loving wisdom,

  • profound tolerance, and a desire for inclusiveness,

  • integrity and authenticity,

  • an understanding of the bigger picture and a deep sense of purpose and meaning to life.

Collective Consciousness is a powerful catalyst. When attuned with its frequencies, you develop a deepening awareness of a Divine Intelligence and Wisdom. This wisdom contributes to the upliftment, not just of the individual, but of humanity and to the unfolding of a higher plan here on Earth.

Our charge, humanity’s charge, is to attune our conscious mind with these higher frequencies of consciousness. The more powerful our conscious connection with one another at these higher frequencies, the greater can be the spiritual transformative power of energies released, thus producing greater shifts in consciousness on a global scale.

Attunement with Collective Consciousness brings with it the means of accomplishing the seemingly impossible. Through heightened intuition we access a special kind of wisdom, through synergy we draw to us that which is needed – bringing with it confidence; and through synchronicity we are able to accomplish outcomes that are vastly more than the sum of each of these individual parts.
